Master Instructor Scott Hughes is the founder and head instructor of Alamut Combative Arts, the only true reality-based martial arts school located in the New Orleans area. With over thirty-six years of documented teaching and training experience in Filipino Martial Arts, Close-Quarter Combatives, Muay Thai Kickboxing, and Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do. Scott brings a no-nonsense, combat-proven approach to self-defense and personal protection.

At age 17, Scott survived being shot during a violent attempted carjacking-an experience that profoundly shaped his philosophy and lifelong commitment to becoming "Hard to Kill." He created Alamut to teach others how to cultivate that same mindset: to be strong, aware, and capable under real-world pressure.

Scott's instruction goes far beyond traditional martial arts. He blends tactical efficiency, combat psychology, and functional fitness into every session, helping students build what he calls a "combat chassis"-a strong, adaptable foundation for surviving violent encounters. His training programs include multiple systems of Indonesian and Filipino Kali, old school Muay Thai Kickboxing, Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do, modern street-fighting applications, and integrated firearms defense.

Respected by students and peers alike, Scott is known for his intensity, clarity of instruction, and deep respect for the history and integrity of martial systems. Whether in private lessons or group classes, his mission is clear: prepare good people to prevail in bad situations.
